Yoga and Ayurveda
Every student is blessed with unique combination of ways to grow and learn. Working one-on-one is a collaborative to create a practice that allows for your intention to be fulfilled. Consider private sessions to deepen your practice, get feedback and assistance with technique or help the natural healing process.
What happens during a private session? Susanne will listen to how you would like to benefit so she can best serve your needs. One-time sessions will address a specific concern as we work together to determine a comfortable practice that meets your needs. For a more comprehensive approach, a series of sessions can be arranged, and we begin with a questionnaire and a thorough assessment. Susanne will offer recommendations we go over, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions. Depending on your needs yoga and/or ayurvedic recommendations may consist of a yoga practice including specific postures, breathing, meditation, lifestyle or dietary guidelines. The following sessions build the practice guided by your feedback and Susanne's observations, understanding and research.
Shirodhara is an ayurvedic treatment that is calming and balancing to the nervous system. It can be an enjoyable, relaxing treatment to reduce stress or a complimentary therapy for depression, anxiety, headaches, sinusitis, nasal allergies, premature hair graying, hearing impairment, insomnia, skin problems including psoriasis, tinnitus, neurological disorders and vision problems.
It involves lying on a massage table fully clothed. A constant stream of mildly warm oil pours on your forehead for approximately 40 minutes. The oil is medicated with herbs that are specific for the brain and nervous system. After the treatment, it is recommended to keep the head covered. A hat or scarve is included with the price of the oil for the first retreatment. A series of treatments can use the same oil or the oil can be taken home for therapeutic self-massage.
