Deeply Relax and Rejuvenate with Restorative Yoga

Saturday, January 21, 1:00–4:30pm

The Restorative Yoga Workshop was wonderful.......enjoyed it while there but was surprised how relaxed I felt the rest of the day.....the word REJUVENATED really fit how I felt.—Christine

Your Restorative Yoga workshop relieved pain and discomfort I have been feeling for months. These supported poses are just what I need and I plan to practice them at home. Thank you for healing and relief during a difficult phase.—Susan

During the winter our body desires more time for rest and restoration. Spend the afternoon using restorative yoga to nurture and nourish the body and relax the mind. Postures are supported by blankets, bolsters or other props and are held for several minutes. This allows the body to receive the full benefits of the postures. The nervous system can disarm and reset to allow healing and balance to happen spontaneously. Restorative ‘stations’ are set up so the only effort required by the participant is to make minor adjustments to the props to accommodate their unique body. They can just breathe and relax, inviting the postures to open the flow of energy throughout the whole body. Restorative yoga creates a feeling of deep rest and rejuvenation. The workshop will culminate with a guided meditation practice of iRest/Yoga Nidra.

Yoga for Myofascial Release

Saturday February 25, 1:30 pm–4:30 pm

Fascia is the connective tissue in our body that wraps every muscle fiber and muscle bundle. It joins to create tendons, surrounds our organs and supports every nerve and
vessel. It is a matrix of energy and one of our richest sources of sensory information. From the yogic model it is the passageway of ‘prana’ (energy or chi) and related to the 72,000 ‘nadis’ described in the ancient texts. This dynamic and fluid sensory network is an instantaneous transport medium for oxygen, nutrients, chemicals, hormones, energy, and consciousness. When our myofascial system is blocked it can lead to the symptoms of pain, headaches, anxiety, restriction of motion and eventually disease. Yoga for Myofascial Release uses a combination of dynamic postures and sustained, supported poses to help unwind tensions and allow prana to flow throughout the body. Learn ways that allow you to tap into your own information highway and flow with ease.
